INTRODUCTION
Guardian Mentor's information security courses are short (approx 30 minute) web-based, online training classes that are designed as simple but effective introductory and orientation courses. The aim of which, is to quickly and efficiently arm the new or longstanding corporate employee with the appropriate knowledge to guard against the loss of or misuse of valuable company information assets.

Students need only a Web browser. After taking the course, students are presented with a mastery test - completion of which enables them or management to download and print a qualification certificate.

Guardian Mentor, supported by Cosaint Certify, aims to continue to provide a range of useful courses that will assist in the cost effective ongoing education of end-users and corporate employees about information security threats and how to manage them effectively.

DELIVERY OPTIONS

Different organisations have different training needs. Some (usually larger) organisations will have well established training departments. Smaller organisations may rely on outsourcing training to specialists. Guardian Mentor's courses, backed up by Cosaint Certify, are designed to be delivered in a variety of ways to suit your needs. They are available in the following formats:

Web-Based Training
Small to mid-sized organisations are best suited to Guardian Mentor's web-based training courses. Guardian Mentor provides a hosted learning management system (LMS) - a simple interface which allows you to log on via the Web to:

upload (create) and manage student lists
communicate with students by e-mail
monitor student progress; and
create management reports

AICC and SCORM compliance for own LMS
Many larger organisations have already installed a Learning Management System (LMS). This is a software application that helps to administer training - usually including both classroom and web-based training. It also manages student logins, records progress and generates reports for managers. If you have an LMS, your training department will know about it!

In the last few years, most major LMS vendors have backed the major standards initiatives in the e-Learning industry - being AICC and SCORM. These allow courses written by different authors to be integrated in a LMS with the least possible effort.

To support this effort, Guardian Mentor's partner, Cosaint Certify, has coupled its content development database to authoring tools that have been tested against and are conformant with both AICC and the latest SCORM 1.2 specifications. Courses can now be exported from the database and customised as required to include client-specific information such as security policies or procedures, or even the look-and-feel of the course.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

In order to support the widest possible range of users, the training courses have been designed to operate with the following client systems:

Connection Speed                    ISDN or higher recommended.
                                                 Minimum requirement is a 28.8 dialup connection.

Internet Browser                       Internet Explorer 5.x or Netscape 4.x or above.
                                                 Javascript/Active Scripting must be enabled.

Screen Resolution                    800 x 600 and 256 colors or better.

Plugins (optional)                     Adobe Acrobat Reader 4 or higher to view
                                                 Quick Reference Guides.

Audio  (optional)                       Sound Card with Speakers/Headset
                                                 Java must be enabled in the browser.

SUPPORT

Guardian Mentor provides e-mail and telephone support to managers in getting accounts established and students working. Guardian Mentor will also assist in the loading of lists of students into the Certify Learning Management System.
